Health Expo 2015

Diabetes mellitus is one of prominent chronic diseases in Hong Kong. To raise the public concern on diabetes and related complications, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital (HKSH) participated in the Health & Life Expo 2015 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12 to 14 June 2015 with “Walking with Diabetes - HKSH’s Comprehensive Diabetes Care Service” as the theme of the booth.
 
Accurate and appropriate health examination is a key to disease prevention and control. Various diabetes-related health check-ups including BMI measurement, blood pressure measurement, handgrip strength assessment, blood glucose test and Amsler Grid eye test were provided to participants. Acclaimed and well received by visitors, HKSH’s booth attracted over 1,300 participants to take part in health screening during the 3-day exhibition.
 
In addition, HKSH’s booth also featured a wide range of interactive sessions conducted by ophthalmologists, dietitians, podiatrist and physiotherapists from HKSH, who shared health advices on prevention of diabetes complications, guidelines for exercise, healthy eating strategies and foot care.
 
Dr. LO Kwok Wing Matthew, Deputy Director of Department of Health Assessment and Co-Director of Endocrine and Diabetes Centre; and Dr. KWOK Kwan Ho Alvin, Specialist in Ophthalmology, delivered talks on the topics of “True or false? Facts about Diabetes” and “Diabetic Retinopathy” respectively, and took questions from the responsive audience during the seminars.
