Message from Chief Executive Officer

Welcome to the website of HKSH Medical Group (HKSH).

Officially launched in 2017, HKSH continues the legacy of the founders of Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital (the Hospital) established in 1922. It is wholly owned by The Li Shu Fan Medical Foundation (the Foundation), a not-for-profit, charitable organisation created by my uncle and our former Medical Superintendent Dr. LI Shu Fan (1887 – 1966), and currently comprises the Hospital, a network of outpatient centres run by HKSH Healthcare, the medical complexes in Hong Kong East, namely HKSH Eastern Medical Centre, HKSH Cancer Centre, and HKSH Institute for Innovation & Professional Development. 

The past decades have witnessed our continuing endeavours for the best support and experience for patients with leading medical expertise, professional care and cutting-edge technologies, most recently Hong Kong’s only and the Greater Bay Area’s first proton therapy system. From a 28-bed nursing home to currently an extensive, interconnected network of medical facilities on multiple sites, we prioritise patient needs, comfort and safety in every step of our pursuit of clinical excellence. As summarised by the motto “Quality in Service Excellence in Care”, our commitment to patients is exemplified by our comprehensive, personalised services, delivered by a team of multidisciplinary professionals in one-stop fashion and strict compliance with rigorous protocols at meticulously-designed, well-equipped and patient-friendly facilities. 

In line with the objectives of the Foundation, HKSH has also made continuous efforts in promoting medical education and medical research, marked by sustained research publications, establishment of HKSH Institute for Innovation & Professional Development, and academic collaborations and exchanges. From training of medical students, doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, to forging of strategic partnerships with top medical institutions in the Mainland and all over the world, we seek to make further, continuing contribution to public health, professional education and clinical innovation at the forefront of medicine.
