Laser Sub-Epithelial Keratomileusis (LASEK)

LASEK is a common treatment for the corneal surface. It is similar to PhotoRefractive Keratectomy (PRK) but with more advantages. It is usually used for eyes whose corneas are too thin or too flat for SMILE-Pro or LASIK. LASEK is a procedure that involves creating an epithelial flap (instead of the stromal flap made with LASIK). The cornea is then reshaped using an excimer laser to change the corneal curvature. LASEK offers faster visual recovery times, with less pain and less potential for corneal haze than PRK.
