Restoring Mobility, Relieving Pain

Our team of expert rheumatologists can reduce pain and restore your quality of life

The HKSH Rheumatology Centre provides diagnostic services and disease management for patients with different types of arthritis and autoimmune diseases.

The treatments offered by our Centre cover various common rheumatic diseases including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthropathies such as ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA), osteoarthritis, lupus, Sjogren's syndrome, gout & other crystal arthritis, scleroderma, vasculitis, infectious arthritis, myositis / myalgia, fibromyalgia, and osteoporosis.

Our team comprises highly experienced doctors specialising in rheumatology, as well as an occupational therapist with expertise in managing symptoms of arthritis. We also have a strong support from a team of the experts in orthopaedic surgeons & allied-health professionals (physiotherapists, dietitians and podiatrist therapists). This multidisciplinary and professional approach allows us to enhance the standard of care we provide, reduce pain and improve mobility and patients’ quality of life.

Our rheumatologists also conduct periodic public health talks and interviews in the mass media to enhance public awareness and knowledge of different rheumatic conditions.

Services

Our rheumatologists provide in-patient care and out-patient follow up for those with rheumatic conditions.

As part of our high quality specialist care, our team uses advanced technology such as Capillaroscopy and ultrasound to aid diagnosis and monitor clinical conditions.

Capillaroscopy involves microscopic examinations of nail bed capillaries (tiny blood vessels in the tissue under and around your fingernails). This technique allows our team to assess capillary arrangement, density, distortion and bleeding to support the diagnosis of Raynaud’s phenomenon, systemic sclerosis and other rheumatic diseases.

Ultrasound is a valuable tool that complements physical examinations of patients with rheumatic diseases. It enables our rheumatologists to monitor the progression of joint conditions with greater precision, ensuring tailored and effective treatment plans for each patient.
