In July 2007, the Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre underwent further expansion and was renamed the Surgery Centre under the Department of Surgery. To further enhance its minimally invasive surgical capabilities, the Hospital has made significant investments in advanced robotic systems. In March 2007, the Hospital introduced the da Vinci S Robotic Surgical System, and later upgraded to the more sophisticated da Vinci Xi model in 2014 - the first such system to be installed in Asia. This innovative robotic technology enables surgeons to perform complex procedures with unparalleled precision and dexterity, while simultaneously providing patients with the benefits of minimally invasive surgery, such as quicker recovery times.
